The 5th edition of Dracula Film Festival awaits its audience with a series of special screenings, events and important guests. The controversial French film reminiscent of Brian de Palma or Alfred Hitchcock, Double Lover / L’amant double, will close the fifth edition of the Dracula Film Festival.
Between 18 and 22 October, Brasov will host the fifth edition of the Dracula Film Festival. For five days, viewers will be able to see the newest horror, fantasy and SF films, attend conferences and workshops, and be able to ask filmmakers questions.
Double Lover, the latest film by French filmmaker François Ozon, will close the fifth edition of Dracula Film Festival. A subversive psychological drama camouflaged by an erotic thriller, starring Marine Vacth, Jérémie Renier and Jacqueline Bisset, Double Lover was nominated this year at Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival. The film will run on Sunday, October 22, at “Sică Alexandrescu” Theater in Brasov.

Richard Stanley, the cult director who gave the cyberpunk fans Hardware (UK, 1990), arrives to Romania for the first time at the Dracula Film Festival at the screening of this film. Dust Devil (Great Britain, 1992), the film that propelled Stanley into the big league, highly iconic, psychedelic, highly memorable and talented psychedelic directors, will also run in the presence of the director. Armand Assante, one of the most chameleonic and prolific actors of his generation, will also be present at the Dracula Film Festival as protagonist of the indigenous vampire indige The Wanderers (Dragoş Buliga), reuniting with Răzvan Vasilescu, 10 years after California Dreamin ‘(Endless).
Four of the six films in the competition will run in the presence of directors or producers: body horror of the year Replace (d. Norbert Keil, 2017), Zombiology: Enjoy Yourself Tonight (d. Alan Lo, 2017) the dark comedy full of adolescent hormones The Night of the Virgin (Roberto San Sebastián, 2016). Among the special guests of the festival are also Milan Todorovic, author of the first Serbian zombie film, Nymph (2014), and American filmmaker Trevor Simms, director of drug and blood dementia, Misirlou (USA 2017).
The Dracula 2017 Workshop, which will take place at the Hof Café on Friday 20 October at 16.00, brings together directors, organizers and festival managers to discuss how complicated it is to make films in Europe. Participants will include: director Milan Todorovic, Romain Roll, Market manager at the Fantastic International Film Festival in Brussels, Paul McEvoy, co-founder of Horror Channel FrightFest, and directors Norbert Keil (Replace) and Roberto San Sebastián (The Night of the Virgin ). The moderator of the workshop will be Alin Ludu Dumbravă, artistic director Dracula Film Festival.
The Dracula Digital competition, dedicated to amateurs making movies with the mobile phone, brings this year to Brasov five teams, designated by the public and the jury. They have to make a short film of 3 minutes at the festival, starting from three keywords. The winner of Dracula Digital will be announced on October 22 in the DFF Closing Gala and will receive a 500 euro prize. More details about this section can be found here: http://draculadigital.ro

Dracula Film Festival will take place in Braşov, October 18-22, at “Sică Alexandrescu” Theater, Cinemateca Patria, Cinema One and Reduta Cultural Center.
